3 Day Refresh While Breastfeeding

The time had finally came.  My 3 Day Refresh box has been staring at me for the last couple months.  This past 13 month since having my 3rd baby have been an emotional roller coaster of working on maintaining my milk supply and also finding a new fitness routine and sticking to a healthy nutrition plan all while the demands of having a baby and nursing cravings!  

As many know I haven't consumed dairy (intentionally) in the last 13 months which is incredibly hard for me but my daughter doesn't tolerate dairy, my boys were the same way and they grew out of it by time they turned 2.  I am big on clean eating but stick with my 80/20 lifestyle.  It has just become a way of life over the last couple years but as life got busier and now that my daughter turned 1 I feel like my hormones are trying to balance back out - or go completely out of whack - I am not really sure.  We are still nursing and I've found myself craving crackers, chips, salty, crunchy etc.  Then I found myself giving into those cravings and a couple weeks ago it was more like 60/40 instead of 80/20 and I was feeling it.  My sleep was off, my skin started breaking out, my workouts were harder to get through, and I was starting to wake up with small headaches.  Something had to give! 

I put off the refresh all these months mainly due to me nursing.  The total calorie consumption for the day is around 900 which is much lower than my normal, however I felt since I had an established supply and knowing that it doesn't contain dairy I decided I would give it a go and really up my water intake and if I felt hungry I would allow myself and extra serving of fruit or veggies.  I will always tell others to consult with your Dr. before starting anything new, especially when nursing and by that I mean a nutritionist!  However I am a huge advocate for the power of nutrition and discipline so I knew this was exactly what I needed to break this bad cycle I was in.

So the 3 day refresh is designed to give you fast, clean, and efficient weight loss.  You can quickly drop a few pounds, break a bad habit and get back on track!  It's 3 shakes a day, a fiber drink, plenty of water, fresh fruits, veggies, and healthy fats so that you keep your energy and  your metabolism going.  It is not a juice or fasting diet but a healthy diet that is going to give your body nutrition vs starvation.  

Now if we're going to be completely honest the reason I put it off so long is because I suck at cleanses.  Mentally I shoot myself down before I even start.  I have heard great things about the refresh and I love that you can eat actual food!  I essentially forced my husband to join me so I didn't cave, ha!  Day 1 wasn't terrible but my husband and I were working on a project and mentally adjusting so we were a bit snappy and come evening of day 1 I was craving anything and everything bad for me so I went to bed.  Day 2 I had a slight headache (I detox hard) but by noon I was feeling much better!  Evening of Day 2 I had SO MUCH energy and I slept great that night.  Day 3 I was ready to wrap it up but I was pretty excited about how I was feeling and watching my stomach bloat disappear! 

Overall it was a great experience.  I lost 2.6 lbs which I wasn't worried in the slightest about losing weight, I was focused on curbing those cravings, reducing the toxicity crap was putting in my body, and my body reacting to good clean foods again.  My skin improved significantly and as I mentioned I slept better.  It just proved even more how powerful nutrition is in our daily activities, that we typically take for granted.  

My milk supply maintained great, we didn't notice any decrease and the baby didn't react to anything I consumed.  Knowing it was dairy free was a relief for me!  Please remember this is MY journey and experience, I did not go into this looking to lose any weight, I simply wanted to feel like I knew I should and needed a reboot to my system!
