21 Day Fix Extreme During Pregnancy || Fit Pregnancy

I followed the 21 Day Fix Extreme to stay fit & healthy during my 3rd pregnancy.  I would confidently recommend it to other active momma's to be.

Before babies, First two pregnancies, and After!!

Before babies, First two pregnancies, and After!!

Pregnany is such a crazy time of surging hormones, emotions and cravings!  With my first two, I gave into every pregnancy craving and excuse there was.   I ate WHATEVER I wanted and I became quite the couch potato.  I used pregnancy as a crutch to take it easy and "enjoy" myself. With #1 I didn't gain a ton (20lbs) but was not healthy, so when baby #2 rolled around (shortly after #1) I chose the same path and dun...dun...dun... My OB ended up asking me if I needed to see a nutritionist.  That was a reality check for me that brought on a lot of stress.  After significant weight gain (I stopped keeping track at 36lbs with weeks left to go) with baby #2 the weight just didn't budge like it did with my first.   2 years after having my kids I ran into serious health issues (you can read more on my health issues here) and I decided on making a change that took me TWO YEARS of hard work to accomplish before baby #3 was concieved!!   Now I was equipped with knowledge and tools to make this my healthiest pregnancy yet.

The simple nutrition guide of the plan ensured I got in all my fruits, veggies, proteins, grains, and nutritients.  I definitely had more leniency than if I were trying to lose weight or shed fat.   It feels so good to know that I am nourishing myself and my baby with all that she needs rather than going in blind and feeling lost and caving to all the pregnancy woes.  I get a lot of questions asking if it is safe to workout and eat the way I do when I am pregnant, I think that is the wrong mindset, you are growing a human being and there is NO BETTER time to be healthy and active.  (disclaimer for the fitness aspect, if you weren't active before, pregnancy isn't the time to start a new ftitness regimine aside from walking or light yoga)  However it IS the time to watch what you eat and fuel yourself with whole foods.

Let's talk Shakeology.  Is it safe when pregnant?

Let me reassure you if it weren't I wouldn't be drinking it daily.  I also took it to a nutritionist at my OB and got the extra approval.  It has been my saving grace!!

It is packed full of essential vitamins and minerals.  Paired with my Shakeology I take Folic Acid & DHA.  Some momma's need extra Iron but I was ok'd in that area to not need to take more.   Ontop of all that goody goodness, it was my saving grace for energy and combatting my cravings!   I love that I am sharing all of the goodness with my baby girl.  It was also one of the only things I could keep down during the first 12 weeks.  My meal plan consisted of Shakeology and Soup.

I will continue drinking it when I am nursing as well.  To continue all the vitamins and minerals PLUS to keep to my nutrition plan.  The whole meal plan from The Fix or Fix Extreme is my game plan for post baby.  I will be adding calories as I did before +300-500 depending on what my supply needs.  I can't wait to share my meal plans with all my new momma challengers.  I am thrilled to feel equipped after this baby and I am excited to see how all my work DURING this pregnancy will impact my recovery.
