Did the title give away our big plans? Ha, that is only the beginning, so YES, we bought an R.V. and most of you know we spend the majority of the Summer in Iowa visiting family. In our true crazy fashion it gets better. A little back story if you don't know me I am a true gypsy soul, I do not need roots (while I appreciate them and love visiting home) I have a much deeper desire to travel and see and experience all different cities, states, countries, and all the sandy beaches. John's family were farmers so travel wasn't really an option aside from closer states because crops and animals. So one thing we agreed on is we want to travel, we want our kids to see all kinds of places, and we were determined to not let everyone's comments of "do it now BEFORE you have kids because you won't can't once you have them" -- insert major eye roll. I won't ever lie and say its super easy and my kids are perfect travelers, they do great but they are still kids. It still gets exhausting but they exhaust me at home so i'd rather be tired on a beach somewhere!!
Early into our relationship we found out our shared dream was to buy an R.V. and drive the country and this year we decided -- WHY NOT NOW? I'm going to let you in on a little secret, we are dreamers for sure but my biggest fear in life is REGRET. Like I get scared and nervous -- but what will keep me up at night is thinking about the what if's in life. So yea, we tend to go big or go home but hey ... it works for us. You should try it, its a rush!!
So we have spent the last couple weeks visiting our parents and siblings and the kids cousins and we have loved it and our set up here in Iowa. We have 8 days until departure but what most don't know is we aren't going home! Since I was a kid I have DREAMT of living on the East Coast, specifically the Carolina's. There is no specific reason that I can recall but like most girls dream of their wedding I dreamt about the tall grass swaying in the wind, the sand fences, and the sandy beaches. Let's just blame Nicholas Sparks. We all love a good Love story right!?
So we are venturing on a bucket list trip for me. We are heading straight to the Carolina's a month long adventure down the East coast to the deep south before go home. In our true fashion we only have a few spots planned out and the rest we will wing it or be boondocking it.
I will be documenting all of our stops across my social media and of course sharing all the more intimate details here on the blog. This is all new to us but we are so ready for the adventure of the RV to seeing a part of the country with our kids for the first time, meeting old friends and new friends along the way.
SO ... are we crazy? Have any of you done anything like this before? Tell me all about it!!
